Support the Ukulele Kids Club: Help Heal a Child Through Music

By on July 15, 2016

duffy 2We were honored with the NH CIBOR 2015 Residential Investment Deal of the Year Award this past June and a part of the ceremony included a fundraising event for NHCIBOR Cares awards, where recipients could designate a portion of the funds raised to the 501c3 organization of their choice. I received an award of $500 from NH CIBOR CARES for a charity of my choice.

But what would be wonderful is if you could join me in giving to the Ukulele Kids Club local programs that are available at:

  • The Elliot in Manchester, NH
  • Dartmouth Hitchcock in Lebanon, NH
  • Wentworth Douglas in Dover, NH
  • Anna Jacques in Amesbury, MA
  • Parkland in Derry, NH
  • Boston Children’s Hospital in MA

Music therapy is now available in local hospitals through the Ukulele Kids Club. Music can be a big part of the healing process! I enjoy volunteering at local hospitals, teaching children to play the ukulele and singing along with them. It is extremely rewarding and fun. We even give them instruments to take home, as a way to give the gift of music for life. It is easy to donate; click here for more information.

A Few Facts:

  • Your gift is tax deductible
  • $200 gets 5 ukuleles to a hospital
  • $40 puts one in a child’s waiting hands
  • Over 2,000 ukuleles given away so far
  • Over 180 hospitals participate in the program
  • Anything you donate is appreciated

Duffy 1I wish you could see what I see: a child in a bed or wheelchair, confused or scared by the hospital experience, now given a gift of music—their faces light right up! You can see the new possibilities in their eyes. Kids can regain rhythmic movement after an accident, and it can ease the pain of infusions. They become calm and centered. But the most amazing thing is to listen to them tell their story through a song! By donating you can help make it possible.

Also, if you know of a hospital that could benefit from having a music therapy program, please let me know. Together, we can make it happen. We have a backlog of demand from music therapists in these programs that needs to be filled right now.

Be sure to visit http://www.theUKC.org for a complete presentation of our work. Check out the videos to see just how much this program means to these kids.

Your donations and support are important. Why not come and play with me? This is not just fundraising—it’s FUN Raising.
